Why Use a pH Neutral Car Shampoo?
- Won’t harm waxes, sealants, or ceramic coatings
- Ideal for modern paint systems, matte finishes, PPF, and vinyl wraps
- Gentle on hands and trim — no harsh chemicals, no caustic surfactants
Unlike high-alkaline or acidic shampoos that slowly eat away at your protection, this formula works in harmony with your detailing regimen, not against it.
Traditional soaps can harm your paint or degrade protection layers. VP’s shampoo uses advanced dual-action surfactants and high-slip lubricants to safely lift and suspend dirt, allowing it to rinse away without scratching. It's engineered for both everyday maintenance washes and pre-detail prep — no fillers, no gloss agents, just pure cleaning performance.
The formula includes polar surfactant molecules that bond to dirt on one side and water on the other, effectively pulling grime away from surfaces. Combined with rich, clingy foam and ultra-slick lubrication, it helps prevent micro-marring and swirl marks during contact washing.

Scientifically Formulated for a Safer Wash
Our formula combines next-generation surfactants and advanced lubricating agents that work together on a molecular level to:
- Break down and loosen stubborn grime
- Encapsulate dirt particles to prevent scratching
- Lift and suspend contamination in solution for a safer rinse
These surfactants contain dual-action molecules — one end is hydrophilic (attracted to water), while the other is lipophilic (attracted to dirt and oils). This allows the shampoo to effectively lift and encapsulate grime, making it easy to rinse away from the surface. Combined with slick, high-performance lubricants, the shampoo allows your wash mitt to glide effortlessly across the paintwork, reducing the risk of swirl marks, marring, and micro-scratches.
Ideal For All Surfaces
- Safe For All Paint Finishes, including matte & Satin.
- Perfect for ceramic-coated & Waxed Cars
- Safe on PPF, vinyl wraps, chrome, rubber, glass, & plastics.
- Non-caustic - gentle on hands & Trim

1000:1 Dilution Ratio – Maximum Value, Zero Waste
Designed to be ultra-concentrated, this shampoo goes the distance. With a dilution ratio of up to 1000:1, just 15–20ml is enough for a full wash bucket or foam lance. That means more washes per bottle and more value in every drop.
Pro tip: Don’t overuse. More doesn’t mean better — the high foam and slickness are engineered to perform at the recommended ratio.

Designed for Swirl-Free Contact Washing
Swirl marks are the enemy of every detailer, and most are caused during the wash stage. VP’s shampoo minimizes this risk through:
- High lubricity to reduce friction
- Encapsulation of sharp dirt particles
- Foam structure that suspends debris for safe rinsing
Pair it with a proper pre-wash routine (like citrus Pre-Wash or Snow Foam) and quality wash tools to ensure maximum paint safety.

Pure Cleaning Power
pH-neutral Car Shampoo has been developed by professional detailers as a safe yet strong cleaning agent. Meaning it contains no waxes or glossing agents to give a false finish, nor will it add protection or increase water beading, it will reveal your paintwork's natural shine. But is intended to leave your paintwork clean and ready for the next stages of your car wash, such as decontamination and polishing on deep car cleans.
Directions for use:
- Rinse the car thoroughly, removing any loose dirt using a hose or pressure washer.
- Add 15-20ml of shampoo to a 15ltr bucket of cold or warm water.
- Using your Wash Mitt, wash the car from the top down. Always recommended to be done with the 2 bucket method. Always rinse the mitt with clean water from the bucket, then use the second bucket to grab more shampoo.
- Once you have washed the whole car, rinse thoroughly with a hose pipe or pressure washer and dry.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – Car Shampoo & Vehicle Wash Care
-
A pH-neutral car shampoo has a balanced pH level (around 7), meaning it’s neither acidic nor alkaline. This makes it safe for all exterior surfaces, including ceramic coatings, wax layers, sealants, and matte finishes. It gently removes dirt without breaking down protective layers or dulling your paintwork.
-
Yes, but only if it's pH-neutral and LSP-safe (like VP's Car Shampoo). Traditional shampoos can strip waxes and degrade ceramic coatings. Our formula is designed specifically to preserve the performance and longevity of your protection layers while still giving you a deep clean.
-
Regular dish soap or household cleaners are too harsh for automotive finishes. They often contain degreasers or strong alkalines that can strip wax, damage clear coat, and dry out rubber/plastic trim. Car shampoos are specially formulated to be lubricating, paint-safe, and residue-free.
-
For most vehicles, washing once every 2–3 weeks is ideal. This keeps dirt and contaminants from embedding in the paint and maintains the performance of any wax, sealant, or coating. Frequent washing with a pH neutral shampoo won’t harm your car — in fact, it helps protect and prolong the finish.
-
Absolutely. VP Detailing's shampoo has a high foaming concentration, making it perfect for foam cannons or pre-wash lances. Just dilute according to your foam lance’s specs, and enjoy thick suds that cling to the paint and lift away grime before your contact wash, or use it as a lazy way to cover your car in foam and then go over with a wash mitt.
-
Our shampoo offers a 1000:1 dilution ratio, which means it’s ultra-concentrated. You only need 15–20ml per 15L of water — a little goes a long way. This makes it a cost-effective choice for detailers and enthusiasts alike.
-
Yes. Matte and satin finishes can be damaged by harsh chemicals or high-gloss agents. A pH neutral, wax-free shampoo like VP Detailing's is ideal, as it cleans without adding shine or gloss, maintaining the integrity of the finish.
-
If the shampoo is not pH neutral, it can strip waxes and degrade coatings over time. But VP Detailing's formula is LSP-safe — it’s engineered to clean without removing or affecting your protective layers, making it the ideal shampoo for treated cars.
-
Use the two-bucket method with a grit guard, a high-lubrication shampoo, and quality microfiber wash mitts. Our pH Neutral Shampoo helps encapsulate dirt and lift it off safely, reducing the risk of dragging particles across your paint.
-
It’s always best to wash in a cool, shaded area. However, because VP Detailing’s shampoo is residue-free and streak-resistant, it’s less likely to spot or streak even if you're working in direct sunlight - just don't let it dry on and rinse thoroughly and dry quickly with a microfiber towel.
